A Note about Noon Closures on Fridays
Moving forward we will be closing at 12 noon on Fridays. Due to our location (Alaska) we are the last company in the world to trade metals daily. Monday-Thursday when the New York market closes, we start trading on the world markets. On Friday’s, the market closes and we don’t have a market to trade on until Monday when the New York market opens. For 45 years we have been able to forecast what we can expect for the last few hours of Friday. With the extreme volatility the markets have faced, we have been forced to make the responsible decision and stop trading at noon on Fridays. This assures we can remain in business and be here for you in the future without taking un-necessary market risks that could hinder our ability to keep the doors open for future generations. We appreciate the Alaskans that have placed their trust in us over the last 45 years, and we will always make the choices that are required to keep us here for you over the next 45 years no matter how tough those choices are.
